Quick guides to help you get the most out of your Funto art supplies. Learn how to use our innovative features and make your creative journey even more enjoyable!
When you first receive your Funto watercolor set, the paint pans may appear dry. This is completely normal! Here's how to activate them:
- Add a few drops of clean water to each paint pan
- Let the water sit for 30-60 seconds to allow the paint to absorb moisture
- Gently swirl your wet brush on the paint surface to pick up color
- The more you use your paints, the easier they become to activate
Pro tip: For best results, always use a wet brush rather than trying to wet the entire pan at once.
Keeping your palette clean ensures vibrant, pure colors every time you paint:
- After each use: Wipe the mixing area with a damp cloth or paper towel
- For dried paint: Add a few drops of water and let it sit for a minute, then wipe clean
- Deep cleaning: Use a soft brush with mild soap and water, rinse thoroughly
- Drying: Leave your palette open to air dry completely before closing
Important: Never use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the paint pans.
Funto offers different sizes to match your artistic journey:
- 12 Colors Travel Set: Perfect for beginners and quick sketches on the go. Compact and lightweight.
- 24 Colors Set: Great for intermediate artists who want more color variety while staying portable.

Proper brush care extends their lifespan and maintains their performance:
- During painting: Rinse brushes frequently in clean water to prevent color mixing
- After use: Gently wash with lukewarm water and mild soap, working from ferrule to tip
- Reshape: While still damp, reshape the brush tip to its original form
- Drying: Lay flat or hang bristles-down to dry completely
- Storage: Store in a brush holder or roll, never leave standing in water
Never: Use hot water or leave brushes soaking, as this can damage the bristles and loosen the ferrule.

Paper warping is common with watercolors, but here are ways to minimize it:
- Use heavier paper: 140lb (300gsm) or higher weight paper warps less
- Tape down edges: Use masking tape to secure paper to a board before painting
- Control water amount: Use less water for lighter washes
- Stretch paper: For advanced technique, wet and stretch paper on a board before use
- Dry flat: Let finished paintings dry completely flat under light weight
Funto watercolor journals: Our 100% cotton cold press papers are designed to minimize warping!
With proper care, your Funto watercolors can last for years:
